Write an essay of 500 to 1,000 words addressing items 1-3 below. (Please let the Acceptance Committee know if English is your "second" language.)

  1. Recall a recent learning experience -- something that you have read, listened to, or researched. What question or questions were evoked by that experience? In what ways might you create an inquiry to explore your questions?

  2. Students in the Master's Program spend the majority of their study time in their home community. Explain how you respond to independently scheduling your academic work. Also tell us about the study resources available to you. These may include libraries, individuals, seminars, etc.

  3. Each of us holds a world-view that we value. How do you respond when your political, religious or social world-view is challenged?

PART 3 - Study Proposal

Integral to this Master's Program is your particular Area of Emphasis within the concentration of Integrative Learning. This is where you explore your personal contribution to the Earth Community. This may be your ongoing "Great Work," or it might be a new exploration - a passionate interest that you would like to develop. Once you have decided the nature of your emphasis area, we help you locate a Field Mentor who will support you in this endeavour.

Examples from previous graduates include:

The above list is a compilation of some of the study areas chosen by previous students.

We realize that your responses to the following requests are preliminary. In fact, most students shift their focus as their learning unfolds. Consider your most passionate interests and select a focus of your choice.

Please tell the Admissions Committee the name of your proposed area and what has led you towards a further exploration. Also state some of the questions you might like to investigate.

Email your response to the above questions to: ties@endicott.edu
